Strobilocercus(Cysticercus) fasciolaris of Taenia taeniaformis in the Liver of Sprague Dawley Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
The cysts of 5~8mm diameter were discovered in the liver of 4males of 1 year-old Sprague-Dawley rats. These cysts were milky white colour and very solid. Also these cysts were filled with cystic fluid. In the histopathological finding, these
cysts
contained Strobilocercus9Cysticercus) (S, C) fasciolaris of Taenia(T) taeniaformis. These cysts were consisted of thick layer of connective tissues and eosinophilic infiltration. Macrophages and lymphocytes were observed in the connective
tissues.
The
macrophages in the outer layer of these cysts contained brown coloured pigments. The necrotic leucocytes and cell debris were observed in the inner layer of cysts. The segments of cestode were not fully developed. The other parasites or cysts
were
not
observed in the other organs and tissues.
